WHAT WE DO

TAUT is an architectural practice based in Melbourne with experience in residential, multi-residential, institutional and commercial projects.

We engage with our clients and consultants in joint design workshops and by conducting extensive design research. TAUT formulates well-founded architectural responses that value memorable experiences and refined details, and believe all our projects should push the boundaries of innovation.

Our studio approach, ensures our team’s expertise is available to each of the projects we deliver. TAUT enjoys working across all scales, from furniture design to architecture to urban design and everything in-between.

TAUT SPACE

TAUT Space is a platform to facilitate exploration of diverse contemporary cultural interests, and provides a supportive environment for discovery and discussion across disciplines. Operating year-round to present up to five exhibitions, TAUT invites artists and creative practitioners whose practices somehow, whether obviously or more tangentially, connect with TAUT ideals to develop and show an original exhibition.

COMPETITIONS / RESEARCH

Competitions are an intrinsic part of design culture. Often sited in new contexts, removed from some of the constraints of traditional practice, they are an effective method of testing research, building and diversifying design strategies, and articulating the philosophy behind the making of better buildings and places.

COLLABORATION

Embracing collaboration is essential in architecture.

Accepting and exploring,  accelerating and realising ideas with others is always a rewarding experience.
Projects are enhanced through the layering and mediation of ideas or the reinforcement and growth of a single idea.

TAUT loves this dialogue; whether it be with clients, contractors, consultants, authorities, artists or other architects.
Respect and openness is crucial to a collaborative approach.

As way of a shout out and credit for our Web Site and Identity Design…..

The production our new identity with Clear Design was always on our to do list. What we did not realise was the extent to which Clear would challenge and exceed our expectations. We are super proud of the result, from a talented design team, whose commitment to the project (and patience with their client) has already been recognised with a 2012 AGDA award.

The design captures our commitment to structure and responsiveness, the generic and the specific.

We look forward to future collaborations with Clear and sharing different beautifully realised collateral with our colleagues and clients.

Indigenous Art: Moving Backwards into the Future is an interdisciplinary exhibition that features the finest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander works from the NGV collection.
