ARCHIPITCH – HOUSING AS INFRASTRUCTURE

Housing is not just about density. It dictates health, wealth, and the environment.

Today, Australia’s developer model divides our cities. It pushes key workers to the fringes and leaves communities isolated.

The ‘Mixed City’ framework fixes this. We view housing as vital social infrastructure. Our model blends social housing, key-worker rentals, and private apartments into one vibrant block. By building on underutilised land, we create lasting value for Victoria.

Equal Design: Every apartment uses identical, considered materials to eliminate hierarchy.

Active Ground Floors: The site is invested in open space activated with complimentary ground floor functions and residential entries.

Smart Funding: Precinct design thinking reduces cost generating more affordable community housing. Multiple types equals multiple income sources, reducing the need for government grants. Infrastructure with greater social and economic return on investment.

Clear Ownership: We legally split the precinct. Common costs are shared fairly, while community housing providers manage social spaces independently.

Proven Success: We adapt proven models from Berlin and Zurich for Australia. This blueprint works anywhere from Melbourne’s Docklands to Geelong and Ballarat.

Our goal is to lift Victoria’s social housing to the 6% OECD average. We want to remove the stigma and make social housing a proud part of the Australian dream. Good architecture solves complex problems to build fair, stable, and beautiful communities.
